DESCRIPTION:

This sensational panoramic trip takes you along some of Switzerland’s most scenic routes, the Golden Pass, the Glacier Express and the Bernina Express. From Geneva the train glides swiftly along the shores of the lake to Montreux, from where you take your seat in the carriage of the Golden Pass train to Interlaken. Visit the famous Jungfraujoch, travel to Brig to change for the iconic Glacier Express. The final trip on the Bernina Express to Tirano in Italy and back is the icing of the cake

DETAILED GUIDE:

DAY 1 – ARRIVAL IN MONTREUX

Rail transfer from Geneva to Montreux. Overnight in Montreux.

DAY 2 – LAKE GENEVA – CHÂTEAU DE CHILLON – ROCHERS-DE-NAYE

Montreux is the heart of the Swiss Riviera. Visit the famous Château de Chillon before you travel on the cog railway to the peak of Rochers-de-Naye with its unique panorama over Lake Geneva and the Alps. From November until December 24th you can visit the real Santa Claus in his grotto perched atop the mountain.

DAY 3 – GOLDEN PASS

Board the Golden Pass train from Montreux and relax as the train sweeps through the many vineyards and country estates on its way to Interlaken. Picturesque villages and panoramic views are sure to impress you.

DAY 4 – FREE DAY IN THE JUNGFRAU REGION

Interlaken sits in the heart of the Bernese Oberland and the Swiss Alps. Explore this popular resort which is nestled between the two beautiful lakes of Thun and Brienz inviting you to a cruise accompanied by stunning views. Overnight in Interlaken.

DAY 5 – EXCURSION TO JUNGFRAUJOCH

No visit to the Jungfrau Region is complete without a visit to the Jungfraujoch, the highest railway station in Europe. Enjoy the breath-taking views of the Aletsch glacier, the longest in the Alps and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Overnight in Interlaken.

DAY 6 – GLACIER EXPRESS

Depart Interlaken by train to Brig where you will join the Glacier Express to St. Moritz taking in dramatic landscapes along your journey. Overnight in St. Moritz.

DAY 7 – BERNINA EXPRESS

Today you will join the Bernina Express. Pass mighty glaciers and over the highest point at 2,253m (7,391ft) down to the palm trees and Oleander of the mountain village of Tirano (Italy). Experience some of the exceptional local cuisine on offer in the many cafés and restaurants before starting your return journey. Overnight in St. Moritz.

DAY 8 – DEPARTURE

Rail transfer back to Zürich for your onward journey.
